Badwater ("the app") is an offline tracking app for crews supporting a runner on the Badwater 135 ultramarathon course. It is built to work without a network connection. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.
The app has no user accounts, shows no ads, and includes no analytics or tracking SDKs. We (the developer) do not collect, store, or receive any personal information from you.
The app uses your device's location, while the app is in use, to show your position and progress along the course. Your location is processed entirely on your device and is not transmitted to the developer or any analytics service. The app does not track your location in the background.
Pins, notes, the race start time, downloaded map tiles, and similar settings are stored locally on your device only. Deleting the app removes this data.
When you download offline maps, the app requests map image tiles from MapTiler, a third-party map provider. Those requests include the map area being requested and standard network information (such as your IP address) and are handled under MapTiler's privacy policy. No personal account data is sent.
The optional "official tracking" feature retrieves publicly available race standings and split times from the AdventureCORPS / Badwater results website. These are ordinary web requests for public data; no personal information about you is sent.
The app is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "last updated" date.
